David III: Stepping Out with Open Eyes

This incomplete figure depicts the process of growth we undergo as we are stepping out to become fully human.  Never completely? Removed though, we become detached from that, which is static in our lives. The negative space between the two halves is suggestive of the soul tension we experience between longing and belonging. The piece invites us to look at life through his newly opened eyes.
